We are co-hosting the event with the local chapter of Anderson Alumni, so we’ll have plenty of opportunities to network and conduct business as well. A real treat overall!

6pm – The Tasting: UCLA Anderson Prof. Bob McCann will personally select five rare whiskies with a story, flavor, and character worthwhile of the occasion (appetizers will be served). Prof McCann has spent a few years in the liquor industry, and he’ll be able to share with us his unique perspective. See Bio below.
8pm – The Laughter: we’ll move from our private room upstairs into the public area downstairs, and get ready for the comedy acts (final line-up is TBD).

ROBERT M. (BOB) MCCANN
Dr. Robert M. (Bob) McCann is the Associate Dean of Global Initiatives at UCLA Anderson, as well as a member of Anderson’s Management & Organizations faculty.
At Anderson, Dr. McCann created, directs, and teaches the core management communication class in the UCLA Anderson School of Management’s full time MBA program. He also teaches several other courses with a communications or international focus in Anderson’s FEMBA and EMBA programs.
Dr. McCann’s areas of teaching and research interest include leadership communication, persuasive presenting, persuasion and influence, global leadership, global executive development, and workplace ageism. Bob’s latest book, entitled Ageism at Work: The Role of Communication in a Changing Workplace, has just come out in Spanish, Catalan, and English.
Prior to his return to academics in the USA, Bob spent several years in the spirits’ (liquor) industry in Asia, where he lived for nearly 20 years. In Asia, Bob acted as the Senior Johnnie Walker Brand Ambassador to Thailand (and later for all of Asia) for Johnnie Walker’s Blue, Gold, Green, Black, and Red Labels. In this capacity, he conducted over 2,000 whisky tastings and media events, making him one of the most seasoned brand ambassadors in the world. He also trained over 30 based brand ambassadors across Asia.
In addition, Bob served as the primary relationship marketing point person for Diageo’s whisky mentor program in several Asian countries including China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand As a consultant and media expert to the spirits industry, Bob has been featured in GQ, Esquire, Liquor Journal, CarLife, Tattler, and the International Herald Tribune, to name a few.
Bob is an avid whisky collector, with his curiosity about fine whiskies probably dating back to his youth when he would watch his father savor deluxe Scotch. Over the years, Bob has visited whisky distilleries, malting houses, and cask making facilities throughout Scotland, and has undergone extensive whisky training in Speyside, Scotland and Sydney, Australia. Bob’s late grandfather, a former player in the Glasgow Rangers’ football system, would smile at his grandson’s love for both Scotch and football.
Dr. McCann holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master’s degree from UCLA, and a bachelor’s degree from Emory University.
