CORNERSTONE CELLARS, a maker of 90+ point wines, has been creating classic, collectable Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon for 19 years. Cornerstone produces distinctive cabernets, signature single vineyard Howell Mountain, and single varietal Napa Valley, both reflecting the character of their vineyards and age-ability, nearly two thirds of which are certified organic. The cabernet is complimented by the Cornerstone Sauvignon Blanc from dry-farmed old vines in St. Helena. The winery has slowly expanded to include the sister label Stepping Stone by Cornerstone. They are conceived from the beginning to be ones crafted with outstanding quality that is both reasonably priced and capable of expressing their full charm and complexity in their youth. “From the beginning it has been our philosophy to use the finest grapes, barrels and facilities. Making the best wine we can bottle has been the real bottom line for us” Dr. Michael Dragutsky. Proprietor and founder.
2009 Sauvignon Blanc-offers rich flavors of limes, green melons, and lemongrass with a softly, creamy texture and a long, spicy, honey rich finish. Wine Enthusiast 90 points and Editor’s choice.
2008 Cabernet Franc, Stepping Stone-pretty flavors of tart, red cherries, Accented with smoky oak, and brightened with crisp acidity, The dryness and smooth tannins add to this polished cabernet franc.
2007 Napa Valley Cabernet-ripe black cherries, cassis, a hint of clove and fresh potting soil transition to a mid-palate that presents surprisingly smooth round tannins for a wine this young. The oak is very well integrated providing subtle hints of caramel and cinnamon. The finish is something all its own with a dash of black tea and white pepper
2006 Howell Mountain Cabernet-Strong black raspberry, black cherry, sweet tobacco and pepper interweave intriguing array of aromas. At entry it is surprisingly silky and round with forward flavors of vanilla, sage, grilled fruit, rosemary and toasty French oak. The texture is full and rich, and fruit flavors linger; Rated 91 Points by Robert Parker
